App: Pip's Story Studio

Developer: Future Bloom Studio

Pip's Story Studio ("Story Studio" on your home screen, "the app") is an app for children aged 4–7 who make their own animated stories, published by Future Bloom Studio ("we", "us"). Because our users are children, we built the app so that there is as little to say in this policy as possible. It applies to the iOS and Android versions of the app (package com.futurebloomstudio.storystudio).

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you or your child. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no subscriptions, and no third-party services collecting data through this app.

The one optional purchase, Story Studio Plus, is made by a grown-up behind the parental gate and handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. Everything your child makes stays on your device unless you, a grown-up, choose to share it.

What the app stores, and where

The app saves a small amount of information on the device only:

This never leaves the device. It is not sent to us, it is not backed up to any cloud service (we have deliberately turned off cloud backup of app data on Android), and it is not shared with anyone. "Delete this child's data" in the Grown-ups area removes all of it, and so does deleting the app.

What your child can create

A story in Story Studio is put together from the app's own pieces — six heroes, six places, six feelings, five actions, a handful of fixed speech lines and the Story Helper's ready-made scene ideas. There is no free typing anywhere a child plays, no drawing, no photos and no recording. Nothing a child makes is ever shown to other users or published anywhere.

The microphone

During setup, a child can tap the microphone to say their name instead of typing it. Here is exactly what happens:

Exporting and sharing — grown-ups only

Behind a parental gate (a multiplication question on the app's own keypad), a grown-up can:

The app on the stores has no upload feature and no server of its own. A future version may offer an optional "Send to family" link that uploads a single video to our own server for up to 30 days; if it ever ships, it will be off by default, switched on only by a grown-up behind the gate, described in this policy before it appears, and never used for anything but that one link.

What the app does not do

The one purchase: Story Studio Plus

The app is free. Three fairy tales and two studio books can be read by everyone; the rest of the bookshelf and the video and PDF exports come with Story Studio Plus, a single purchase that is never repeated and never renews. It is sold only in the Grown-ups area, behind the parental gate. The child's bookshelf shows the other books with a lock; tapping one opens the parental gate, and no screen a child uses shows a price or a purchase button.

The payment is made in the App Store or Google Play purchase sheet, under the rules and the payment method of that store account. The app receives only the store's confirmation and remembers it on the device. We receive no card details, no name and no account identifier; the app has no server to send them to. "Restore purchase" asks the store for an earlier purchase on a new device. Refunds are handled by the store, under its rules. Those companies process the payment under their own privacy policies:

Children's privacy

This app is intended for children and is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and the GDPR's protections for children (including Article 8) in the EU and UK, as well as the Google Play Families policy and Apple's Kids Category requirements.

Because we collect no personal data from anyone, there is no data for a parent to review, correct, export, or ask us to delete. If you wish to remove everything the app has stored, use "Delete this child's data" in the Grown-ups area, or delete the app.
